Kayoong Community congratulates Mme Jeanne on repaying her microloan in full!

Mme Jeanne founded a business baking small snack cakes and doughnuts in her home 10 years ago. Over the years, her business grew to the point that she was selling through local markets and small bakeries.

When a family emergency required her to use the savings she had earned through her business, and they lost the home they had been renting, Mme Jeanne was no longer able to work and the business closed.

Now, three years later, she has secured a place to live that has a small space where she was able to restart her business with the support from Kayoong. Mme Jeanne received a first microloan from Kayoong in 2019 to buy an oven, ingredients for her cakes and packaging materials. She has repaid it in full and has just received a second microloan to help her expand further.

These microloans are directly funded through your purchases of baskets, handbags, rugs and other crocheted items made by Kayoong.

Mme JEANNE’S SNACK CAKE RECIPE

1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup oil
4 eggs
1 packet baking powder
1 packet vanilla sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients well until smooth. Pour into greased cake pan. Bake the cake for 45-55 mins until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
